Después del impacto de un enorme asteroide que destruye completamente Padua y Verona, se crea en la Tierra un sofisticado sistema para detectar la trayectoria de cualquier objeto que aparezca cerca de nuestro planeta. Gracias a esta predicción, se descubre un extraño asteroide que gira a una velocidad increíble, Rama, que, según todos los estudios, no volverá a pasar jamás por el Sistema Solar. En un momento dado, empiezan a aparecer indicios de que Rama pueda ser artificial. Las supuestas implicaciones que ello conllevaría transforman, de inmediato, la inquietud en temor.

There is a reason it is still known

Very little sci fi is still talked about decades later. And often, that which is, how the author was a huge asshole/sexist/etc. is a part of that conversation.

I haven't heard any of that about Arthur C. Clarke. And the book is still solid both in it's sci fi and its politics. If anything, it's more optimistic than more modern fair.

I really enjoyed it, albeit that it took a bit to get though.
